Tunica County Man Charged With First Degree Murder In Shooting Death Of Mother Of Newborn

37-year-old Donald Demario Patrick, of Tunica, was charged with
• First Degree Murder
• Aggravated Domestic Violence
• Felon in Possession of Firearm (2 counts)
• Possession of a Stolen Weapon

On, Friday, January 5, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an individual stating that a juvenile came to their neighbor’s house stating that their mother had been shot inside their apartment.
Sheriff Deputies and first responders were dispatched to the home on Kirby Road in Robinsonville.
When deputies arrived at the home, they heard more shots fired inside the home. Two more teenagers were standing outside of the home.
Sheriff Deputies learned that a man, woman and newborn child lived in the apartment.
They secured the scene and evacuated the surrounding houses.
Sheriff Deputies spoke to the male suspect inside the apartment via phone and were able to get him to release his weapon and come outside of the house.
At approximately 10:35 p.m., deputies 37-year-old Donald Demario Patrick, of Tunica.
Patrick told deputies that he shot his child’s mother and that there was a newborn inside the house.
Patrick is being held at the Tunica County Detention Center, pending charges.
When deputies went inside the home, they found 34-year-old Shaterica Queshun Bell, of Robinsonville, with an apparent gunshot wound.
Thankfully, the baby was located, unharmed.
Bell died from her injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Tunica County Coroner.
Ms. Bell’s body will be transported to Mississippi State Crime Lab (Medical Examiner’s Office) for an autopsy.
The Sheriff’s Department said,
“Our hearts are heavy today for this family. Please keep their children in your prayers.”
This investigation is active and ongoing.
