A routine traffic stop on September 30 resulted in a significant drug seizure and the arrest of 24-year-old Jonesti Naze Blackston from Lucedale.

The incident occurred near the intersection of 198 E and Old Highway 63 N, where a patrol deputy from the George County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) were conducting a traffic check.

During the stop, deputies discovered a trafficking amount of marijuana and a firearm in Blackston’s vehicle. This prompted law enforcement to secure a search warrant for Blackston’s home, where they seized additional marijuana.

Blackston was arrested and taken to the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

Following her initial appearance before Judge Mike Bullock, she is being held on a $250,000 commercial bond for trafficking a controlled substance.

Sheriff Mitchell Mixon emphasized the importance of collaboration among various agencies, stating,

“This is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various agencies coming together to combat drug issues in our county. Our unified approach is making a significant impact in keeping our community safe.”
