A Natchez police officer conducted a traffic stop on Sergeant Prentiss Drive around 10:40 p.m. Thursday night.

According to Natchez Chief Cal Green, as the officer spoke with the driver, the driver told him he knew where some skeletal remains were.

Officers found remains at the location the driver stated.

Chief Green said they took the driver into headquarters for questioning.

The remains have been sent to the state crime lab to determine the identity and cause of death.

This is an active investigation.
