A 17-year-old Natchez boy is in custody after allegedly fatally shooting a woman and barricading himself inside an old school.

Police say it was around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of George F. West Boulevard.

The victim, Dambrelle Thomas, 31, who was shot in the upper chest and arms, died at the scene.

Police told the Natchez Democrat that the teen, who has not yet been identified but is expected to be charged as an adult, had an argument with a man at the residence. He then allegedly left and returned with what police asy was possibly a modified shotgun.

The teenager then barricaded himself inside the old Thompson school. The Democrat reports that his father came to the scene and talked him into coming out after police had surrounded the building. The then also took detectives to what they believe is the murder weapon.

More information is expected to be released.
