The Jones County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team, in collaboration with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, executed a search and arrest warrant at 1122 North 9th Avenue in Laurel early Wednesday morning.

HSI agents secured a federal arrest warrant for 27-year-old Rayshawn Devon Barnett on charges of possession of a machine gun, in violation of 18 USC 922.

Barnett was apprehended at the home without incident.

During the operation, two adult females, one adult male, and a juvenile female present at the scene were detained but later released without charges.

Barnett is currently held at the Forrest County Jail in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, awaiting his initial court appearance.
