On Sunday, July 21, the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident near the area of CR 157 and CR 174, close to Rock Hill Pentecostal Church.

A white male was reported to have fired shots at a home on CR 174 near CR 175. Following the shooting, the suspect drove through a yard and crashed at the intersection of CR 157 and CR 174.

When confronted by local citizens, the suspect exited his vehicle with a rifle and fled the scene on foot. He was later spotted by a Mississippi Highway Patrol officer behind a home on CR 174, before escaping into a wooded area between CR 174 and CR 156.

The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, is actively searching for the individual. A K9 team and a drone team are also assisting in the search.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 662-286-5521. A photo of the suspect, taken by a local citizen, shows that he no longer has the rifle and is no longer wearing a blue plaid shirt.
