A routine traffic stop escalated into a vehicle pursuit on Wednesday when a gray 2016 Chevrolet sedan refused to pull over for a Vicksburg Police officer on Indiana Avenue near South Frontage Road.

The suspect led officers on a chase that ended near Gibson Road, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.

Vicksburg Police, along with deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, searched the area but could not find the suspect.

The Chevrolet was towed from the scene, and the case remains under investigation.

Authorities are continuing to look for the suspect.
