On Thursday, August 22, at 10:26 p.m., the Linn-Steiner-Roundaway and Ruleville volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Mississippi Highway 442.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved fire, requiring an immediate defensive attack.

Firefighters swiftly established a water supply using multiple fire apparatus while Sunflower County deputy sheriffs closed Highway 442 to keep emergency responders safe.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, the resident, who was home at the time, escaped with no injuries.

The Bolivar County Volunteer Fire Department also responded to help.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control and at 1:00 a.m. Friday returned to service.
