Morgan Howard

One person was arrested Wednesday after a stolen challenger lead MHP on a chase that ended in a crash.

On Wednesday, August 16, at approximately 5:23 p.m., a trooper with the Mississippi Highway Patrol located a 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat traveling west on Interstate 20 in Rankin County that was reported stolen in Alabama.

A Chevrolet Silverado that was reportedly used in the theft of the car was located with the Challenger.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop on both vehicles near Clinton, where occupants of the Silverado were taken into custody without incident.

The Challenger, however, fled from the traffic stop and led troopers on a pursuit that covered over 20 miles before it crashed into two westbound 18-wheelers near the 13-mile marker in Warren County. Nobody was injured in the crash.

The driver of the Challenger was taken into custody without incident. All suspects were transported to Clinton Police Department for further investigation.

This incident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
