Several Pascagoula police officers were honored by being given Lifesaving Awards for their heroic act in saving a man’s life.

The Pascagoula Police Department announced that several officers received Lifesaving Awards for their heroic actions on July 31, 2024.

Responding to a report of a possible suicide attempt at the high-rise bridge, the officers arrived to find a man standing on the ledge.

The officers were compassionate and engaged the man in conversation for quite a while. They were ultimately able to persuade the man to step back from the ledge and seek medical treatment.

The department said they are so proud of the officers’ dedication to serving and protecting the community.
