On Thursday, July 25, CTED Officer Casey Dale’s quick actions and collaboration with the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Children’s Transport Team led to life-saving care for a child in urgent need.

While on duty near Collins, Officer Dale received an urgent call from Troop J dispatcher Wayne White. The UMMC Children’s Transport Team’s ambulance had broken down in Collins and needed immediate assistance to transport a child to Laurel, MS.

When Officer Dale arrived at the scene, he was met by UMMC Nurse Karen Simon, who he recognized from a previous encounter when his son required medical care a year earlier. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Officer Dale quickly transported the UMMC Children’s Transport Team in his patrol vehicle from Collins to the child in Laurel.

The seamless coordination between dispatcher White, Officer Dale, and the UMMC Children’s Transport Team ensured the child received the necessary life-saving care without delay.

This remarkable teamwork highlights the dedication and prompt response of Mississippi’s emergency services. Officer Casey Dale and the UMMC Children’s Transport Team are to be commended for their heroic efforts in ensuring the child’s survival. Their swift actions underscore the commitment to making Mississippi a safer place for all.

Thank you to Officer Casey Dale and the UMMC Children’s Transport Team for their exemplary service and life-saving response.
