Starting Nov. 1: Read Darkhorse devotional series “Beside Still Waters”

Therese Apel

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” – Phillippians 1:3-4

Starting Nov. 1, we will have a Bible study/Devotional post each day for readers who are interested.

We know some of you aren’t, but some of you might be. As we provide other crime, community, business and outdoor news, we strive to be a light in a dark world. We want the community around us to be better because we’re here, and we’re constantly looking for ways to do that.

Most of the time, the posts will be written by me (Therese Apel), but sometimes we’ll have guest writers. The goal is eventually to bring you God’s love through the his words to contributors from all over the state as we grow this segment.

The idea came from daily posts I would make on Facebook, starting with just things I was thinking about as I sat beside the little lake behind my house. Gradually I started doing my Bible study there in the morning, so I would post a verse that impacted me and what I thought God was telling me. People started to tell me they looked forward to them, which shocked me — I was mostly posting as an accountability thing for myself.

Multiple times people have told me I should write a devotional book, and while there’s not really a way to find time for that right now, I remembered that people read things on Darkhorse Press, and that’s easy. I’m just happy to share with anyone who wants to have these discussions!

We hope that as we do this, we can give you a little extra, as Madelyn put it, “Inspiration for the morning and food throughout the day.”

We love all our readers/viewers/followers so much. We’re so grateful for you, and we hope your life is better because we’re here.
