Starkville Police Arrest Teacher on Child Exploitation Charges

On May 23rd, Starkville police arrested 51-year-old Kelvin Stanfield, of Okolona, following warrants issued by the Sixteenth Circuit Court of Mississippi. Stanfield, a teacher at Starkville High School, faces four charges under Mississippi Code § 97-5-23, which involves the touching or handling of a child or incapacitated person.

The warrants were issued during a probable cause hearing on Thursday morning in Lowndes County Circuit Court. Mississippi Code § 99-3-28 mandates such hearings for teachers accused of crimes in their professional capacity.

Four victims have reported incidents that allegedly occurred between March and May 2024. The Starkville Police Department received these reports on May 15, 2024.
