The Starkville Police Department arrested 22-year-old Danterius Nichols on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute following a shooting at Ferndale Apartments on Lynn Lane.

The incident happened at 3:17 a.m. on Friday, September 6.

The victim was flown out of the area for further treatment, and authorities confirmed that Nichols and the victim knew each other before the shooting.

Nichols was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail.
