Simpson County deputies confiscated this meth and fentanyl in a bust late last week.

Early Thursday morning, Simpson County deputies confiscated over five pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 18 grams of fentanyl, according to a Facebook post by the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department.

A release from Lt. Chris Wallace said shortly after midnight on Thursday, Simpson County deputies made a traffic stop on Hwy 49 south near Hwy 28 in Magee.  The driver then sped away and deputies, with the assistance of officers from Magee PD, pursued the vehicle down Siloam Road until the car crashed near Hwy 541 south.

A search of the crashed vehicle and surrounding area yielded just over five pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine and approximately 18 grams of alleged fentanyl.  Authorities say this case is still under investigation.
