According to WTVA, another person was arrested concerning a former cold case in Lee County.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson identified the suspect as 36-year-old Niki Hester, of Detroit, Alabama.
Wendy was found dead inside a home on July 14, 2023 on County Road 1792 in Saltillo.
Her body showed obvious signs of foul play, the sheriff announced.
WTVA said the case eventually turned cold until investigators in Lee County and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation recently reopened the case because of new technology in forensic testing and other information that was not revealed in the earlier investigation.
Hester ended up being indicted for murder. Her father was charged in 2023 with the same murder.
