Routine Safety Checkpoint Turns Into High Speed Chase In Jackson

Morgan Howard

A routine safety checkpoint on Medgar Evers Blvd turned into a pursuit when a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica refused to stop for Mississippi Highway Patrol State Troopers at approximately 11:54 a.m.

The driver, 35-year-old David White of Jackson, nearly hit a trooper before speeding away.

Troopers initiated a chase that ended on Yarbor Street, where White was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond, MS.

Charges are pending as the Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
