Two Arrested After Armed Robbery At Rankin County Dollar General

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery at Dollar General that happened Friday.

This store is located south of Florence on 469 South.

Rankin County deputies were dispatched and spoke with employees who said the suspect was a black male with black pants, a black hoodie, blue gloves and a mask. The employee said he also had a semi-automatic pistol.

Deputies reviewed video footage and confirmed this description. A near by resident told deputies they saw a white Honda Accord in their driveway and took a picture of the tag.

A BOLO was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies and shortly after Clinton Police found the individuals driving westbound on I-20.

They were taken into custody and returned to Rankin County.

Police searched the vehicle and found a gun used in the robbery as well as the cash taken from the Dollar General.

The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Deanthony Smith (from Vicksburg) and 28-year-old Kaylen Peel (from Jackson).

Both were charged with Armed Robbery.

Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett will bring both suspects before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow for an initial appearance.

Clinton police assisted in apprehending these individuals as well.
