On Thursday, August 15, at approximately 6:05 p.m., deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a black 2024 Honda Civic traveling northbound on Hugh Ward Blvd in Flowood, Mississippi.

The driver, identified as Quang Thanh Ngo of Brandon, Mississippi, failed to yield to the deputies’ emergency lights and siren, leading to a brief pursuit.

The chase ended when deputies successfully executed a tactical vehicle intervention at the intersection of Hugh Ward Blvd and Sea Turtle Cove. Ngo was arrested at the scene, while a female passenger in the vehicle was detained but later released without charges.

During a subsequent investigation by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Task Force, authorities recovered multiple items from the vehicle, including eight THC vapes, 136 grams of THC wax, 3.3 grams of powder cocaine, 113 dosage units of Alprazolam (commonly known as Xanax), and a Taurus 9mm handgun.

Further investigation revealed that Ngo was out on bond for felony possession of marijuana and had previously fled from Flowood Police in a stolen Dodge Charger Hellcat, which had been reported stolen from Houston, Texas. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Madison, Mississippi.

As the investigation is ongoing, additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming. Ngo is scheduled to appear before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow Jr. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
