On Wednesday morning July 10th just before 6:00 a.m., the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one-vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment at the intersection of Old Fannin Road and Eagle Drive in the Reservoir area of Rankin County.
Rankin County Deputies along with the Reservoir Police, Reservoir Fire Department, Pafford Ambulance Service and Rankin County EOC responded to the scene. Once on scene, deputies found that a Volkswagen SUV traveling on Old Fannin Road appeared to have ran off the roadway and struck a light pole and rolled over. The driver was trapped in the vehicle during the crash and suffered serious injuries.
The driver did not survive his injuries and passed away at the scene.
Rankin County Coroner David Ruth responded to the scene and recovered the victim.
The accident is currently under investigation by Rankin County Deputies.
