According to WLOX, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Ocean Springs late Tuesday night, according to the Ocean Springs Police Department (OSPD).

The incident occurred around 9:51 p.m. near the railroad tracks at 1118 Bienville Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they confirmed that a white male was deceased. His identity is not yet being released.

Witnesses said that the individual was lying on the tracks and did not respond to warnings from the approaching westbound train. The train entered emergency mode but was unable to stop in time.

The tracks were reopened at 11:07 p.m. after authorities cleared the scene. Both OSPD and CSX are continuing their investigation.
