A routine traffic stop on Interstate 20 led to the arrest of one man after he allegedly fled from Pearl police.

Brandon Fields, who is now facing multiple charges, was arrested after he tried to outrun police.

Friday afternoon, Pearl police officers pulled Fields over for a traffic violation. During their initial interaction, Fields voluntarily disclosed that he was a felon. Fields suddenly fled the scene in his vehicle as the conversation continued, sparking a high-speed chase on I-20.

During the pursuit, Fields was allegedly seen throwing a firearm out of the vehicle’s window. After police apprehended him, a magazine was discovered on the front seat of his car, along with another firearm.

Fields is now in custody and is facing a range of charges, including fleeing law enforcement, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possible tampering with evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.
