On Friday May 24, at approximately 7:50 pm, Jackson police responded to the 3700 block of Jayne Avenue regarding an Armed Carjacking.

When they arrived, they were advised by the homeowner that her silver Hyuandai Elantra had been taken at gunpoint.

The victim and homeowner told police that her family (children and grandchildren) were sitting in their vehicle as they were preparing to leave, when two young males walked into her yard.

One of the suspects was wearing black pants with no shirt, the second suspect was wearing a red face mask, white T-shirt and blue shorts.

The suspect with no shirt had a handgun and was firing it as he approached while ordering the family out of the vehicle.

After ordering and physically pulling the family members from the vehicle, they repeatedly demanded to be given the keys to the car.

After the suspects were unable to locate the keys, the homeowner threw the keys to her vehicle to the suspects.

Both suspects then got into the vehicle and drove away from the scene.

Precinct 2 Officers and the Action Team located the abandoned vehicle at 255 Lexington Avenue soon after it was stolen.

The incident was caught on surveillance video from a ring camera at the home.

On Wednesday, May 29, police was contacted by the McComb PD who had previously been contacted by the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office and informed that the parents of one of the suspects in this case, had brought him to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office to turn him into authorities after seeing the news footage.
