On September 11, the Oxford Police Department assisted in the search for an escaped inmate from the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility. Officers stationed on Highway 6 East spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s description and initiated a traffic stop.
The suspect, 39-year-old Ryan Burks, of Ridgeland, MS, was arrested for Felony Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
Burks was later turned over to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department for additional charges.
Authorities praised the teamwork between law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest.
