Lauderdale County Coroner Stella McMahan confirms that one person has died after a Tuesday night shooting at the intersection of 8th Street and 30th Avenue in Meridian.
Sgt. Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department said an officer was on patrol around 9:53 p.m. in the area when they heard gunshots. The officer then turned around and discovered a female victim on the ground with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Police are still searching for a male suspect.
The investigation is ongoing, and we will have more information as it becomes available.
