One Killed, Several Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash on US-61 in Issaquena County

A multi-vehicle crash on US-61 North near Valley Park resulted in one fatality and several injuries on Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:46 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene involving three vehicles: a 2024 Honda HR-V, a 2011 GMC Acadia, and a 2024 Jeep Wrangler.

The collision occurred when the Honda HR-V, driven by an 18-year-old from Bella Vista, AR, collided head-on with the Jeep Wrangler, driven by 23-year-old Drakeria Dorris of Greenville, MS, and carrying passenger 20-year-old Michael Robinson, Jr., also of Greenville, MS. The Jeep Wrangler then collided with the GMC Acadia, driven by 69-year-old L.T. Young, Jr. of Detroit, MI, with passengers Vincent Young, 68, of Chicago, IL, and Michael Alexander, 60, of Crown Point, IN.

Michael Robinson, Jr., a passenger in the Jeep Wrangler, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda HR-V was transported to UMMC in Jackson, MS, with unknown injuries, while the driver of the Jeep Wrangler was taken to Merit Health in Vicksburg, MS, also with unknown injuries. The driver and passengers of the GMC Acadia had minor injuries
