One Firefighter Injured As Collins Fire Dept. Battles Large Fire At Feed Store

Collins Fire Department Personnel are fighting a large commercial structure fire.
According to a local rescue, Rocking R. Ranch Rescue this was a feed store in Collins.
The building is located off Hwy 49 North in Collins.
Units were dispatched to the call at 9:06 pm and when they arrived, they reported heavy smoke and flames showing throughout 75% of the structure. Fire was also in the store and warehouse areas of the building.
Collins Fire Department units were initially assisted by personnel from both Mt. Olive Volunteer Fire Department & Seminary Volunteer Fire Department.
The Collins Police Department, Collins Electrical Department, and Covington County EMS also assisted.
Collins Fire Department crews continue suppression efforts amid the dangerous and adverse weather conditions.
Heavy winds and extremely low temperatures have made fighting this fire harder for everyone.
The fire department said that heavy equipment will be required to be brought in later this morning after daylight to allow for the fire to be safely extinguished. The structural integrity of the building is extremely compromised due to the extent of the fire.
One firefighter was injured and was initially treated on scene by CCH Ambulance personnel, and will receive further treatment at CCH E.R.
