According to WLBT, Tchula police are investigating a mass shooting that happened Friday night at a former nightclub, called “The Mix”, in Mississippi.
One woman was killed and six others were shot and injured.
“The Mix” is a nightclub turned pool hall.
Tchula Police Chief Kenny Hampton said that an individual or individuals shot from a vehicle around 11 p.m. Friday.
Two of the victims of the shooting were taken to a hospital in Lexington, Mississippi, and had to be airlifted to UMMC. The other victims were treated in Lexington and one in Greenwood.
WLBT reports that one of the people had been shot three times.
Police said it appears the guns the two suspects used were an AK-47 and an AR-15.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Department found a vehicle that had bullet holes abandoned on Howard Bottom Road just outside of Tchula. Police said when they ran the vehicle through the system, they learned that the car had been stolen from a used car dealership in Jackson.
Evidence indicated that the weapons used were similar to those found at the scene of the shooting.
Both the Holmes County Sheriff’s Department and the Tchula Police Department are working together to investigate the shooting.
