The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Jackson Police Department that occurred on May 30th, 2024.
Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance near Dixon Road in Jackson, Mississippi. Upon arrival, the subject approached an officer in a patrol vehicle and presented a weapon at the officer. The officer discharged his firearm fatally striking the subject. The officer involved did not receive any serious physical injuries. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
