According to WDAM, a person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Jones County on Monday afternoon.
Around 4:00 p.m., multiple volunteer fire departments, including Ovett, Johnson, Powers, and Glade, responded to the scene of a crash on Highway 29 near Beech Cemetery Road.
Firefighters arrived to find that a pickup truck had rear-ended a cement truck.
The driver of the pickup was trapped inside the vehicle, prompting firefighters to use hydraulic tools for extrication. Once freed, emergency crews from Emserv Ambulance Service provided aid.
A landing zone was established in a nearby pasture, allowing for a Rescue 7 air ambulance to transport the critically injured driver to the nearest hospital.
The driver of the cement truck declined medical attention and reported no injuries. No additional injuries were reported, though the pickup sustained severe front-end damage.
Highway 29 remained closed to traffic while emergency crews worked at the scene.
