Mother, Child Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver While Trying To Cross Tupelo Street

A mother and child were struck by a motorist while trying to cross North Gloster Street Saturday night in Tupelo.
Police said the driver left the scene.
On March 2, around 9:30 p.m., Tupelo Police Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Gloster Street for two pedestrians who had been struck by a vehicle.
Officers discovered two victims, an adult female and a juvenile, who had been injured. A witness said the two were trying to cross North Gloster Street when they were struck by a dark-colored sedan.
The vehicle did not stop and drove away from the scene. Both victims were transported to the NMMC for serious injuries.
A person of interest was stopped and arrested a short time later by TPD officers. This incident is under investigation and more information may be released when appropriate.
