Missing In Mississippi: Casey Dee Herring, Natchez

Therese Apel

Casey Dee Herring has been missing from Natchez since 2009.

No one knows why Casey Herring ran off at the sight of the ambulance he had asked for 15 years ago, because it was the last time anyone ever saw him.

It was October 25, 2009, and 30-year-old Herring was staying at a Best Western hotel in Natchez. He actually lived on his mother’s property in Ferriday, Louisiana, officials said.

Herring had hurt his ankle and had asked the hotel desk clerk to call an ambulance, according to reports. When the ambulance pulled up, though, Herring ran down the street toward the Natchez Visitor and Reception Center, and that’s the last time he has been heard from.

According to the Andalusia Star-News, Herring’s family got a tip that he might be in Andalusia, Louisiana, in 2012. Their source had told them that he might be working at a local farm under an assumed name, but that lead didn’t pan out.

Casey Herring is a caucasian male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5’11, 140 lbs. At the time he went missing, Herring was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and socks but no shoes. Herring has previously broken his collarbone, and he has a surgical scar on his hand, a scar on the back of his head or neck, and a tattoo of the initials “KCD” in blue or purple ink on his abdomen.

Herring’s right foot was broken and in the process of healing at the time of his disappearance, which caused him to limp. Reports say he also suffers from mental illness, possibly bipolar disorder and/or schizophrenia.

Adams County officials have said the case remains open as long as it is unsolved. If you have any leads, please contact the Natchez Police Department 601-445-5565.
