Thursday night, several agencies were on the scene of two 18-wheelers that had crashed on Interstate 20 West, leaving one injured.

Authorities said Mississippi Highway Patrol, Rankin County EOC, the Pelahatchie Police Department, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, and volunteer firefighters were on the scene throughout the night, with the interstate finally being opened back up around 6:30 a.m.

The wreck happened near the 62-mile marker around midnight and both westbound lanes were blocked for a time, making it challenging for some first responders to get to the scene.

One lane is open as of 8 a.m.
