MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Two people are in critical condition after a shooting in the 1600 block of 37th Avenue in Meridian around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Sgt. Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department said officers responded to a call about two people being shot. Once on scene, they discovered an elderly couple with gunshot wounds.
Thompson says the couple were husband and wife.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital, and one victim was then airlifted to a hospital in Jackson.
The male victim is still in critical condition, but investigators say he is not expected to make a recovery.
The shooting is currently under investigation.
