Lauderdale County Coroner Stella McMahan confirmed John Davis, 73, was the man killed in the shooting that took place Thursday morning around 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of 37th Avenue.
Sgt. Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department said officers discovered an elderly couple at the scene after receiving a call about two people being shot.
The couple were husband and wife.
Both were transported to a local hospital. One person was then airlifted to a hospital in Jackson.
The female victim remains in critical condition.
This is an on-going investigation.
