This past weekend, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) participated in Operation Dry Water (ODW), a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence (BUI).

Throughout the holiday weekend, Conservation Officers conducted saturation patrols across the state as part of the heightened awareness and enforcement efforts.

MDWFP concluded the campaign with the following results:

  • 287 citations issued
  • 36 alcohol and drug violations recorded
  • 13 BUI arrests made
  • 7,775 boaters contacted

The MDWFP emphasizes the importance of safe and sober boating practices and appreciates the cooperation from the boating community during the enforcement period.
