“Weather conditions can change quickly in the state, and the Mississippi Department of Transportation wants you to be prepared for any winter weather and extreme cold events. With your safety in mind, MDOT offers winter weather resources including safe driving tips, a car kit checklist, and car care information for the winter months.”

MDOT said on their website that they are monitoring the weather. They have trained employees ready to deploy a range of strategies to keep Mississippi highways open and passable during this weather.

During a winter storm, MDOT’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) monitors road conditions and distributes this information to the public via the MDOT Traffic mobile app and MDOTtraffic.com.
