The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Gulfport Police Department that occurred on May 22nd.
Narcotics officers with the Gulfport Police Department saw a suspicious person walking along Dedeaux Road in Gulfport, Mississippi.
When officers attempted to make contact, the person fled and then presented a weapon towards the officers.
The officers then discharged their weapons striking the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital. The officer received no serious physical injuries.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
