Man Shot By Alcorn County Deputies After Allegedly Striking His Mom In Head With Knife

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office that occurred on June 8th.

The Alcorn Sheriff’s Department said on Saturday, June 8th, around 3:30 p.m. deputies were called to County Road 575 in Corinth about a domestic issue involving a knife.

The first deputy on scene observed a white male striking a white female, later identified as his mother in the head with an object.

The deputy gave verbal commands and deployed his taser which had no effect on the subject. The subject continued to strike his mother in the head the deputy then fired his service weapon, striking the male subject.

The female was transported by ambulance and later flown to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

An ambulance took the male subject to Magnolia Regional Health Center.

According to MBI, the deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injury. This information is preliminary and subject to change.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
