On Thursday, June 6, at approximately 8:14 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on I-55 in Lincoln County.
A 2003 Chevrolet Express Van driven by 56-year-old Hector Garnica Jr. of Brownsville, TX, was traveling north on I-55 when it collided with a concrete bridge barrier after the rear left wheel became detached.
A passenger, 51-year-old Alfonso E. Muraira of Matamoros, Mexico, was killed in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
