A man is dead after his vehicle hit a tree in Rankin County early Friday morning.

On Friday January 19, at approximately 7:33 a.m., the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Fannin Road and Barnett Bend Circle in the Reservoir area.

Rankin County Deputies along with the Reservoir Fire Department, Rankin EOC and Pafford Ambulance responded to the scene.

First responders found that a Ford Pickup Truck had left the roadway and struck a tree causing heavy damage to the vehicle and serious injuries to the driver.

The male driver of the Ford Pickup was seriously injured. Medics from the Reservoir Fire Department and Pafford Ambulance Service tried to help him, but he passed away at the scene.

Rankin County Coroner David Ruth responded to the scene where he recovered the body of the deceased.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
