A man is in custody after Hinds County deputies say he shot someone Monday.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said Kevin Dueitt, 44, is in custody after shooting Lee Casterberry, 45, in the face. Casterberry was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he was in serious condition Monday night.
The incident occurred Monday shortly after 4 pm in the 1300 block of Airport Road in Raymond.
Dueitt has been arrested for aggravated assault.
Jones says the shooting began with a fight after a dispute between the victim and the suspect.
Dueitt, a former Marine, has been arrested at least once before for a violent crime. According to Breezy News, he was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Leake County in 2022.
The same year, he was wanted in Attala County for allegedly violating a domestic violence protection order.
Jones says the investigation is ongoing.
