First Incident: Armed Robbery Of ATM Serviceman
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the Jackson Police Department began investigating an armed robbery/aggravated assault that happened in the 4000 block of Medgar Evers.
According to WLBT, Jackson police received a call around 12:30 p.m. regarding an armed robbery and shooting at a convenience store.
The victim was servicing an ATM at the gas station and the suspect walked up to him with an automatic weapon and demanded the ATM key and the key to the man’s Chevy Silverado.
Jackson Police told WLBT that the suspect the serviceman in the side, didn’t take any money, then drove away in a red Honda Accord.
Second Incident: Murder Of Man Renovating Home
The next day, Wednesday, January 10, the Jackson Police Department were called to a homicide on Del Rosa in Jackson.
Officers found the victim inside the home who had been shot multiple times. He died from his injuries.
MHP’s Arrest:
MHP spotted the suspect vehicle at 1:30 p.m. on US-49 South near Maclean Road in Hinds County.
The trooper knew that the vehicle matched the description of a suspect wanted for questioning about a recent aggravated assault/carjacking on Medgar Evers Blvd.
The red Honda Accord was parked on the side of the road and when the trooper approached the vehicle, he saw a man sleeping inside on the driver’s side.
Once assistance arrived, the trooper made a felony approach. They were able to arrest the man without incident.
A large amount of drugs and a weapon were found inside the vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody. He was identified as 31-year-old Robert Anthony Jackson.
Jackson was interviewed by Jackson Police Detectives and was arrested and charged in both incidents.
WLBT said that he confessed to the crimes.
Jackson is charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Armed Robbery.
