On December 11, Tupelo police were called to 915 Garfield Street (One D’Ville) for a call of shots being fired.
When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings around the apartment complex.
Officers were able to find the suspect, 31-year-old Devonte Cortez Bynum (from Tupelo) who was still at the scene.
Bynum was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct Failure to Comply and Discharge of a Firearm in the City Limits.
On December 13, further investigation showed Bynum was previously convicted of a felony.
He was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Bynum was taken before Tupelo Municipal Court, where he was denied bond by Judge Jay Weir.
