On June 12, at approximately 1:35 a.m., officers from the Tupelo Police Department responded to the North Mississippi Medical Center following a report of an adult female victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. When officers arrived, they learned that the shooting had happened on the west side of Ballard Park.

Officers and detectives immediately responded to Ballard Park, where they recovered multiple pieces of evidence. Following further investigation, Tupelo Police Detectives determined that the incident was isolated and between people who knew each other.

Later that day, Tylen Hinton, an 18-year-old male from Tupelo, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence. On June 13, 2024, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Hinton to be held without bond.

The charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
