A 26-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after a series of traffic violations led to a high-speed chase and subsequent crash into a Hattiesburg home.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., an officer on patrol with the Hattiesburg Police Department noticed a black vehicle traveling near the intersection of W. Street and W. 4th Street without headlights or taillights. When the officer attempted to initiate a stop, the driver, later identified as Marcus Loftin of Hattiesburg, accelerated, fleeing at a high rate of speed.

The officer pursued the vehicle, maintaining a focus on public safety throughout the chase. The pursuit came to an abrupt end when Loftin lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house in the 500 block of Mable Street. Emergency medical services were called to the scene immediately.

Loftin was found to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Following his release, he was issued several citations and charged with Felony Eluding Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have stated that additional information will be provided as it becomes available. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
