On Thursday August 3rd, Itawamba County Deputies responded to a home on Carolina Road regarding a physical assault and theft of a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, Itawamba County Deputies located an injured woman at the house.
The female had been violently, physically assaulted and had sustained injuries to her head and body.
An ambulance responded to the scene to treat the female. The victim was able to provide a good description of the suspect, later identified as Gary Lyn Delashmit along with a description of her stolen vehicle.
According to the victim, the suspect arrived on foot, forced her car door open while she was getting ready to leave, struck her multiple times in the head and body with his fists, and stole her vehicle.
Not long after the initial incident report, the Nettleton Police Department successfully located the stolen vehicle and Gary Lyn Delashmit.
The suspect was arrested and later transported to the Itawamba County Jail. The stolen vehicle was returned to the victim.
Gary Lyn Delashmit is charged with Carjacking with the bond set by the Honorable Judge Holcomb, Itawamba Justice Court.
The case is ongoing and will be presented to the Itawamba County Grand Jury.
