The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible shooting that happened Sunday morning near Road 231, west of Guntown.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call reporting that someone may have been shot. When deputies arrived, they found evidence of an altercation and made contact with a witness on the scene who was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

Another witness was reportedly shot in the hand but left the scene and has not sought medical attention, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing as investigators work to interview witnesses and gather more information about the incident.
