According to Jackson Police Detective Tommy Brown, officers, along with a SWAT team and the U.S. Marshals were called out to a home on Ridgewood Road in north Jackson Monday.

They were called to Pearl at Highland Village around one of the apartments there. Detective Brown said Jerell Lynch, a 27-year-old kidnapping suspect, barricaded himself inside of a home.

Lynch had a kidnapping warrant out for his arrest, as well as domestic violence, simple assault, and several misdemeanors, as well as one warrant from federal officials.

When U.S. Marshals arrived at his home to arrest him, he barricaded himself in and was believed to be armed.

The SWAT Units were called out and Law Enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals, Clinton Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, Capitol Police Department, Madison Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Jackson Police Department all worked together for six hours to locate and apprehend this suspect.

After numerous attempts to make contact with Lynch by hostage negotiators, officers made entry into the building and located Lynch who was hiding in the attic.
