Tiara Marie McElroy has been charged with making a false bomb threat after she allegedly sent a text message claiming there was a bomb threat on September 13, 2024.
According to the Kemper County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to Kemper County High School located at 200 MLK Jr. Street at approximately 7:15 a.m. following reports that several students had received a text message stating, “Alert Alert Kemper County bomb Threat Detection!”
The investigation led authorities to an IP address associated with McElroy’s residence. During questioning, McElroy reportedly admitted to sending the message as a prank, citing the date, Friday the 13th, as the reason for her actions.
McElroy has been charged with false reporting of a bomb, explosive, or weapons of mass destruction. Her bond has been set at $50,000.
